Congratulations to everyone that came out to challenge themselves in the first event of the year in Roanoke. The temperature and course conditions were a big challenge and I congratulate each of you on your effort. And, I'm really happy there wasn't any carnage out there.

I really enjoy the Chestnut Ridge loop and hope that we are able to work with the National Park Service to make this an annual event. Leading up to the event, Gina and I had put in 12+ hours cleaning the trails of debris and deadfall from the heavy rains of the fall and recent 18 inches of snow.

Thank you to New Hope Christian Church for letting us use their Fellowship Hall for our pre and post event activities. They had a perfect setup for us and it was really nice to have a warm place to go to recover from the cold.
