We feel confident that the series will be an in person event series. As restrictions change we’ll try to keep you up to date on the plan. There is a lot of time between now and January and although events will probably look different, we should still be able to give you the events you’ve grown to love.
We are constantly looking at how to put on the best “live” event for you. Locally there hasn’t been many events and we want to help deliver a well directed event while considering all the recent changes to group activities and sporting events.
You can find our race approach on the main webpage. The details are gradually getting ironed out and we are updating the page as we change things.
We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks!
We are sad that the official CtC races have to be canceled but have set the event up to be run virtually. See the webpage for all the virtual information – https://mountainjunkies.net/conquer-the-cove-25k-marathon/
I have compiled the results that have been submitted so far. I’ll update them as people submit their results and once everyone gets a chance to run the course when the greenway reopens (tentatively 4/30/20). There have been some Strava issues, course side trips, and other technological problems, so not all results have made it to Strava.
Thanks for playing in this ever adapting game (as of 4/15/20 – 6am) https://www.mountainjunkies.net/Mill_Mountain_files/2020_Mill_Mountain_Overall.htm
The RNUTS point standings have been updated to show the current entrants and the results following the Montvale 5/10 Milers. Let me know if you see anything that needs attention. There is a lot of math in there and I may have missed a thing or two.
All of our Mountain Junkies LLC events are still being held. We are trying to stay current in this ever changing environment related to the virus.
Here are details about minimizing risks on the CDC website – please keep yourself current on what is recommended and abide by the recommendations.
Currently, the Virginia as well as our local Department of Health have not recommended canceling events. The vast majority of our runners are not in a high risk group and, other than the start and following the race, will not be in close contact of each other.
We ask, those who may be traveling from a high risk area, to not attend the event as well as those with any general symptoms such as a cough and/or fever (including spectators). For those attending, please bring your own hand sanitizer, wipes, and/or utilize other infection-control measures as best you can.
We will continue to make decisions that rely heavily on the guidance we are receiving from the CDC, the Virginia and local Departments of Health, and similar sporting governance and are intended to keep public health at the forefront of our concerns. Please remember that this is an emerging and rapidly evolving situation and that it may create uncertainty. Hence, our guidance and position is subject to change and if our position does change, we will reach out to our race registrants by email.
It’s getting real! RNUTS XII is almost upon us. Here is the Frozen Toe 10k entrant list https://mountainjunkies.net/Frozen_Toe…/Frozen_Toe_PreReg.htm
Check it out and let me know if you see anything that needs updating – firstname.lastname@example.org
If for some reason you can’t make it to the race let us know. As long as we can fill your spot we’ll transfer or refund your entry minus $5 and any RunSignUp fees.
There may be a change or two prior to the event but this is who made it in.
Have a great end to 2019 and we’ll see you Saturday January 4th.
Join us on Saturday December 21st for the fifth Mountain Junkies holiday cookie run. What could be more fun than running trails and then eating cookies?
Cookies you say?
It’s a simple format with one basic rule. You have to bring homemade cookies to participate.
- We meet at 8:30a.m. at the Hollins University Dining Hall.
- At 9:00a.m. we run the Tinker Creek Greenway to Carvins Cove boat docks and back to Hollins (approximately 7 miles total).
- You don’t have to run the whole way.
- Regardless of speed, I’d suggest everyone turnaround at 30 minutes and head back.
- Hollins University has been gracious to allow us to host this cookie run each year and we would like to show our appreciation by collecting donations for the Hollins University Student Emergency Fund. This fund offers small loans to students who find themselves in financial predicaments – from needing money for textbooks, to needing cash to get home to see an ill family member.
- If you plan on writing a check just make it out to Hollins University and in the subject line put Freya Emergency Loan Fund.
- We will also accept cash.
- Please consider making a contribution – every little bit counts!
- Please contact Gina at email@example.com to let us know if you plan to attend. We’d like know how many calories we need to burn that week so we can try all the cookies.
Hollins University Map
On the map, the Dining Hall is #22. The Moody Center and we’ll be meeting at the Rathskeller.
Once back we enjoy cookies, coffee, tea, cocoa, and oh yeah, socializing with other mountain junkies.
So let’s end the year in the company of friends; sweaty, caffeinated and over sugared.
The preregistered list for the race has been posted and will be updated periodically until the race. There are two waves in the preregistered list. Look it over and let me know if you need anything updated.
This year we will be headquartered in the Arthur Taubman Center (across the courtyard of the Visitors Center). That means we have a course change too. See all of the updates on our webpage – https://mountainjunkies.net/into-the-darkness-night-trail-run/
